9b. Obtaining an Oho Real Estate Agent License

To Obtain a Real Estate License in the State of Ohio
- You must be honest, truthful and of good reputation
- You must be at least 18 years old
- You must be sponsored by an Ohio real estate broker
- You must not have been convicted of a felony or crime of moral turpitude, adjudged by a court to have violated any civil rights laws regarding real estate within the past two years, or violated any rules of the Ohio Division of Real Estate. If you are found to have done so, you must submit satisfactory proof to the Superintendent of Real Estate that you will not violate such laws again.
- If you were born after 1950 you must have a high school diploma or its equivalent as recognized by the Ohio Department of Education.
- Any person who has not been licensed as a real estate salesperson or broker within a four year period immediately preceding their current application for the salesperson's exam mush have completed the required 120 hours of online or classroom instruction at an institution of higher education that awards a degree in at least a two year program. Certificates are good for 10 years. See Step 1 of "Steps to Licensure" for more information.

Steps to Licensure
- Register for and complete the required 120 hours of online or classroom pre-licensing education.
- 40 hours Real Estate Principles and Practices
- 40 hours Real Estate Law
- 20 hours Real Estate Appraisal
- 20 hours Real Estate Finance
- Once you have completed the above pre-licensing education requirements and have met all other requirements as outlined in items 1-6 under "General Requirements" you must submit a License Examination Application and all applicable fees to the Ohio Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing. Instructions for completion and fee information can be found on the application. Forms may be downloaded from the Ohio Division of Real Estate's Web site: www.com.state.oh.us/real Applications must be signed by your Sponsoring Broker.
- The Division will review your application and determine your eligibility to test and will notify PSI Exams. PSI Exams will then send you a Candidate Information Bulletin which will have an examination Notice of Eligibility indicated on the back page.

- Scheduling your Exam
After receiving your Examination Eligibility from PSI Exams, you may register for and schedule your exam by calling 1-800-733-9267. Or you may register for and schedule your exam online by going to PSI Exams.
- Additional Information
Please note that exam fees must be paid in order to schedule your exam. All exam fees are nonrefundable. For each exam retaken you must submit a retake application and applicable fees to the Oho Division of Real Estate before you can schedule a re-examination.
